1 Difference between pashmina and cashmere?

Actually there is no difference between cashmere and pashmina. Pashmina and cashmere refer to the same thing. The raw material cashmere wool comes from the same mountain goat called “cnyangra” who lives in the highest range of Himalaya’s above then 12000 to 14000 feet. And the way of manufacturing either Cashmere product’s (Shawls, Scarves and Pullovers) or Pashmina product’s are same.

Pashmina is a textile, which became popular in the west in the late 1990s. It is very soft and warm, and used primarily in scarves and shawls. The word is derived from the Persian word Pashm, which refers to the undercoat of fur on many animals-in this case, the goat. Most commercially available Pashmina is actually a blend of pure Pashmina wool and silk.

Cashmere is available in several grades, including Grade A, B, C and so on. But we the Nepal Cashmere Industries offer the highest quality of cashmere products which made from Grade-A, Cashmere wool. All the Pashmina and Cashmere products that we offer are made with this very fine grade of wools.

There are significant differences in the quality of Cashmere and therefore, the price of fiber that is used in a Cashmere garment is the key factor which makes the price difference. There are variations in the fineness of the cashmere from various origins. Who uses the finer quality Cashmere wool that will be more expensive rather then who uses the coarser Cashmere wool? Cashmere fiber is also priced by its length. Longer fiber is more expensive because it makes stronger yarn that pills less. All of these variables play a role in the cost variation between seemingly similar garments.

Well there are limited numbers of mountain goat’s are available in the high range of Himalaya’s. It takes one of rare goats four years to grow enough Cashmere wool for one sweater. Each goat is combed by hand every spring. Then the fleece is collected and sorted by hand. That is why usually all the Cashmere products like sweaters are knitted on hand-operated machines. Therefore, the scarcity of the fiber and the handwork required to convert that fiber into a luxurious garment both contribute to Cashmere’s price.

Your fingers are very good judges. If a Cashmere sweater does not feel smooth, soft and luxurious, don’t buy it. The other critical factor is density/weight. Pull the sides of the sweater apart and then let them go. The sweater should snap back to its original shape. Loosely knit, limp fabric is the hallmark of a cheaply made Cashmere sweater. A good Cashmere sweater should feel hefty and substantial even if it is light weight.

It all depends on the quality and how it is worn and cared for. Generally speaking more expensive Grade-A quality shawl/sweater will last longer than less expensive shawl/sweater. With normal wear and proper care a high quality Cashmere sweater should be last many years.

Yes, it is not essential that you dry clean your purchase, although it is the safest method. You can hand wash your Cashmere knitwear in warm water with not very harsh detergent or you can use mild fabric conditioner not squeeze and not dry in the direct sunlight.
THERE ARE SOME INTERNET SELLERS WHO ARE SELLING PASHMINA SHAWLS FOR 8$ TO 10$ BY

Currently there are a lot FAKE pashmina shawls are sold as real pashmina shawls over internet. The current prices for those fake pashmina shawls are from 9$ to 48$.Those fake pashmina shawls are usually made of 100% mercerized wool, some of them are made of acrylic (A kind of synthetic fiber) that is why they could make it so cheap (This price can not even cover the cost for a real Cashmere/Pashmina shawl.)If you are really a smart Cashmere shopper? Those fake Pashmina shawls are actually sold just for a $5 to $7 in the Asian Market’s. Do not be fooled your self. Do not pay for those worthless fake things; do not encourage the liars by doing business with them.

You have may seen Pashmina shawls and scarfs for lower prices.Unfortunately, the name pashmina is not protected and is being used for scarf and shawls made of man made fabrics like viscose, and Polyester or made of normal sheep wool. The cheaper “pashmina” shawls you might have seen will definitely not have been made of genuine Cashmere, whereas the Nepal Cashmere Industries Pashmina shawls and scarf are made from the finest Cashmere wool (combined with Grade-A silk) One clearly can see, feel and notice the big difference between genuine Pashmina shawls and Pashmina shawls made from Viscose, cotton, or normal wool. So in all good quality Pashmina is always expensive then the cheaper one’s.

No not necessarily 30% silk makes the fabric more durable and shiny. Cashmere and silk represent two colliding opposites: Cashmere is not shiny, feels warm, is soft and has “tiny curls “ in fabric structure. Cashmere is very fine wool and therefore preserves characteristics of animal hair. Silk is characterized by natural shine; it is soft to the touch and suitable for manufacture of “cold” summer Scarf’s. It is the combination of two opposites that yields a special fabric a typical material for Pashmina shawls.Although our 70% pashmina 30% silk blend shawls and scarf are stronger and shinier than our 100% Pashmina shawls. But we still offer the 100% Pashmina because it is softer and smoother than the mix blend.

Our pure pashmina, all our cashmere apparel, throws and blankets are made with 100% pure cashmere and do not contain any silk in it. The pure pashmina is softer, warmer and heavier than the pashmina-silk blends. The pashmina with silk are woven with silk running the length of the weave, and cashmere on the width of the weave. Hand weaving gives the shawl its distinctive character and produces its slender. Drape, elegant silk sheen, and soft, delicate feel. It’s no wonder the shawl has become a fashion favorite. Shawl-making in Nepal is not a science but an are? A craft involving many hand processes. As such, the exact content of Pashmina and silk may very slightly from shawl to shawl.

Single strand of wool is used to make regular Pashmina silk blend pashmina: thus single ply, 2ply Strands of Pashmina yarn is used making a double ply. Double ply contains more pashmina than single ply, as a same way 4ply contains more pashmina and thicker then 2 ply. While 2 paddles and 4 paddle pashmina are for 100%pashmina. 2paddle is looser weave, while 4 paddles is a tighter weave.

Pashmina Shawls, Wraps, Ponchos- 2ply, 4-ply.
